WATER-BASED MOLD-RELEASING AGENT FOR ALUMINUM EXTRUSION MOLDS
Definition
WATER-BASED PROMAX 6000 is
a pale-colored solution and is used more perfectly in place of
graphite-based mold-releasing agents in aluminum extrusion presses. It does not produce odor and vapor, and it is not sticky. It is absolutely non-carcinogenic.
FEATURES
This product is easily water-soluble. When it is sprayed onto the front surface of the PISTON PUSHING THE BILLET (Dummy Block or Moving Washer),
a thin, solid and powder-like white coating is left after the
evaporation of its water content and afterwards, this coating
completely disappears. This coating has superior releasing and
lubricating features to graphite. Especially when changing the mold, it
ensures easy mold release first by easy removal the aluminum part of
the mold and then by the completion of the release with a minimum
caustic utilization in a much shorter period of time in a caustic bath.
These features ensure the aluminum part in the mold to stay apart
easily, allowing a longer mold life. Since it contains no pigment, the
product works well whether it is concentrated or thinned. It can be
used much more effectively at every point where the graphite-based oil
is used.
BENEFITS OF PROMAX 6000
ON ALUMINUM EXTRUSION PRESSES
- Since it is water-based, it never produces odor or vapor, and it is not flammable.
- Intermediate part/block in the sleeve never sticks to the billet.
- Tail part of the billet can be easily cut by means of guillotine and no crushing occurs.
- Before changing the mold, mold inside is easily discharged.
- It has no side effect detrimental to human health. (Non-carcinogenic!)
- Extremely simple and practical to use. (It is used by adding 1:3 water.)
- Unit cost is lower than that of the graphite-based oils.
- It eliminates the influence of the graphite dust and vapor on the precision systems.
- ISO 9002 certified.
APPLICATIONS
PROMAX 6000 can be applied in both automatic and manual spraying systems with the opportunity of air/product ratio adjustment.
It is produced so as to prevent deposits in and blocking of the
spraying orifice during inevitable interruptions due to mold changing
or other reasons. Small deposits that can be formed at the end of long
interruptions can be thinned again by using water or fresh product.
This significant feature prevents hard-to-remove, solidified deposits
to be formed on the mold parts.
PREPARATION METHOD
PROMAX 6000 is a
concentrate (essence) that should be dissolved in water. We recommend
you to thin the product as specified below before using:
- Put Promax 6000 to be thinned into a clean container.
- Add
water (1:3) to the concentrate until the desired consistency is
achieved and stir until a good homogeneity is obtained. PROMAX 6000 is
easily soluble in water and this process needs only a few minutes.
MIXING RATIOS
In Extrusion Press:
A
25% concentrate (1 part of Tectyl Promax 6000 + 3 parts of water) can
be prepared. It can be sprayed onto the mold sides, onto surface of the
pushing block, onto cutting edges of the guillotine that cuts the
remaining tail part of the billet at the end of the press and onto the
inner surfaces of the mold for discharging the mold inside during mold
change by means of automatic or manual spray with a pressure of 4-6
bars and from a distance of 20-30 cm. You can use Promax 6000
safely in place of graphite-based oils used for similar purpose. It is
not detrimental to hands and skin. In case of eye contact, washing with
water is sufficient.
Note: We recommend you to shake the packaging thoroughly each time before taking the concentrated product.
